Is it a survival mechanism to believe that we are the most important being in the universe? Perhaps. Perhaps it is because we value our own life so much that we can actually get through some of the near impossible hurdles we sometimes do. But many people take it way too far and forget another immensely valuable aspect of the fight for survival: community. In order to be a part of a community, one must be willing to accept support from others, but most importantly, one must be willing to serve as well.
